Until very recently, food preservation was a crucial daily endeavor that required a great deal of ingenuity to prevent food from quickly spoiling. Even today, a large percentage of the food supply is wasted, despite modern refrigeration and the evolution of kitchen appliances, including those that are specifically designed with new technologies to optimize food preservation.
